Overview

Effective skip tracing ensures you connect with the right property owners, especially when active numbers are missing or insufficient. This guide outlines our recommended skip trace strategy based on the number of distress points and includes a prioritized list of vendors to maximize contact rates.

Pre-Skip Trace Step

Before beginning the skip trace process, make sure to click “Update Active Phone Numbers” in your Property List. This ensures the data you’re working with is current and accurate.

Properties with 3 or More Distress Points

(Criteria: More than 2 distress points AND less than 1 active number)

Follow this sequence:

  1. IDI

    • Include all numbers available, including those of relatives.

    • Import the updated file and re-apply your filters.

  2. SkipForce or DataZapp

    • Import the results and repeat the filter process.

  3. SkipGenie

    • Import again and re-apply filters.

  4. Manual Skip Trace

Properties with 2 or Fewer Distress Points

(Criteria: Less than 3 distress points AND less than 1 active number)

Follow this adjusted sequence:

  1. SkipForce or DataZapp

    • Perform skip trace, import, and re-filter.

  2. IDI

    • Focus on the first 5 numbers only.

    • Import and re-apply filters.

  3. SkipGenie

    • Import and repeat filtering.
