Launch Control is the SMS marketing platform used by 8020REI clients to reach motivated sellers. This guide covers everything you need to get started: importing data, creating campaigns, assigning contacts, running follow-ups, and handling files with more than three phone numbers.
Getting Started
Log in at app.launchcontrol.us. From the dashboard you can import property lists, create campaigns, and manage your SMS outreach.
Your 8020REI data file contains contacts segmented by Action Plan (Urgent, High, Low). Each segment should be imported and campaigned separately for maximum effectiveness.
Core Workflow
| Step 1 — Import Upload your filtered CSV via Direct Import (one Action Plan at a time) |
Step 2 — Create Campaign Name it YYYY-MM-ActionPlan-8020REI (e.g., 2026-04-High-8020REI) |
| Step 3 — Assign Link each imported file to its corresponding campaign |
| Step 4 — Follow Up Re-engage non-responders with a follow-up campaign |
Assigning Files to Campaigns
After importing, navigate to Direct Import and click Assign to Campaign next to your file. Search for the campaign by name (use the YYYY-MM-ActionPlan-8020REI format) and select it.
Do this immediately after importing to avoid delays in launching outreach. Always confirm you are assigning the correct Action Plan group.
Follow-Up Campaigns
Follow-up campaigns re-engage contacts who did not respond to your initial outreach:
- Go to Campaigns and click Create Follow Up Campaign.
- Select the original campaign you want to follow up on.
- Choose the month with no responses.
- Name it:
YYYY-MM-ActionPlan-FollowUp-8020REI(e.g.,2026-04-High-FollowUp-8020REI).
Space out follow-ups to avoid spam-like behavior and maximize deliverability.
Handling 3+ Phone Numbers per Record
LaunchControl only processes the first three phone numbers per record. If your dataset contains more, use the Excel VBA Macro provided by 8020REI to reformat your file:
- The macro splits records into multiple rows, each with up to 3 phone numbers.
- It appends a counter to the Last Name field to prevent duplication errors.
- Rows without phone numbers are automatically removed.
- A new "output" worksheet is created with the cleaned data.
Important: Your source worksheet must be named Source. Save the file as .xlsm (Macro-Enabled Workbook). Download the macro template here.
How the macro allocates numbers by Action Plan:
- Prospect Urgent: All phone numbers, in groups of three.
- Prospect High B: First 6 phone numbers (two rows of three).
- Prospect Low B: First 3 phone numbers only.
Expected runtime: up to 5 minutes depending on file size. If you are unfamiliar with macros, contact your Customer Success Manager for a pre-built file.
Best Practices
- Always import one Action Plan at a time (Urgent, High, Low).
- Use standardized naming to track campaign timing and purpose.
- Assign files immediately after importing.
- Align campaign names with your monthly outreach calendar.
- Always import the newest file provided by 8020REI.
