Marketing Sequence Counters help you track how many times a property has been contacted through Direct Mail, SMS, or Cold Call since the counter was last reset. You can reset these counters whenever you want to start a new marketing sequence, without erasing your property's existing marketing history.
What Are Marketing Sequence Counters?
Each property has a Marketing Sequence Counter for three marketing channels:
- Direct Mail (DM) -- tracks direct mail contacts.
- SMS -- tracks text message contacts.
- Cold Call (CC) -- tracks cold call contacts.
Unlike other marketing counters, Marketing Sequence Counters can be reset manually whenever you need to start a new outreach sequence. For example, if you are launching a new campaign using a list you have mailed before, you can reset the sequence counter to restart your contact numbering while preserving the property's marketing history.
Understanding the Three Marketing Counters
For each marketing channel, you will find three counters. They track contact activity differently depending on when they reset.
| Counter | What It Tracks | Reset Behavior |
|---|---|---|
| Marketing Count | Contacts within the current marketing cycle. | May reset automatically when a property becomes available again, such as after a sale. |
| Marketing Count (Lifetime) | The total number of marketing contacts made to the property over time. | Preserves the property's lifetime contact history and is not manually reset. |
| Marketing Sequence | Contacts made since the last sequence reset. | Can be reset manually whenever needed. |
The same three counter types are available for Direct Mail, SMS, and Cold Call. Each provides a different view of your marketing activity.
How to Reset Marketing Sequence Counters
Follow these steps to reset sequence counters for specific properties and marketing channels.
- Navigate to the Property List.
- Select the properties you want to update, or apply a filter to identify the properties you want to include.
- Open the Actions menu and select Reset mkt. sequence counters.
- Choose whether to reset the selected properties or all properties matching your filtered list.
- Select the channels you want to reset: Direct Mail, SMS, Cold Call, or any combination.
- Click Reset counters to complete the action.
Helpful tip: Check the last reset date displayed for each channel before resetting your counters. This helps you keep track of your current marketing sequences.
What Happens When You Reset a Counter?
Resetting a Marketing Sequence Counter only changes the sequence count for the channels you select. Your existing marketing history and campaign settings remain unchanged.
- Your marketing history stays intact. Marketing Count and Marketing Count (Lifetime) retain their existing values.
- Only selected channels are reset. Channels you leave unselected retain their counters and reset dates.
- Your Action Plans and marketing cadences remain unchanged. Resetting a counter does not start, stop, or modify a campaign.
Important: Resetting a Marketing Sequence Counter does not correct fulfillment issues or change the number of properties used in a campaign. If fewer properties were used than expected, contact your Customer Success Manager (CSM) for assistance instead of resetting your counters.
How to Read the Marketing Sequence Number
The Marketing Sequence number shown for a property reflects the number of contacts made before the list currently being viewed.
Example: Direct Mail Sequence
| First list sent after a reset | 0 |
| Next contact | 1 |
| Following contact | 2 |
The counter increases as additional contacts are made. This allows you to track a property's position within your current outreach sequence without losing its overall marketing history.
Please note that counters update shortly after a campaign is sent, rather than immediately when a list is generated.
Important Limitations
- Resets are limited to the properties selected or filtered. They do not reset every property in your account.
- Large resets may take a few minutes. Updated counters may not appear immediately because processing can happen in the background.
- Counters may be recalculated during system maintenance. In certain cases, a full rebuild of marketing counters may clear previous sequence resets. Your CSM will notify you if this affects your account.
