This guide explains how to update your domain with Golden Addresses — the verified, corrected mailing addresses used to improve direct mail accuracy and deliverability. This process includes validating, formatting, importing, and manually updating address records as needed.

? What Is a Golden Address?

A Golden Address is a corrected version of the property's address that replaces inaccurate or incomplete data. Updating to golden addresses helps improve targeting, reduces mailing errors, and supports fulfillment accuracy.

Step-by-Step Instructions

? Step 1-2: Prepare Your File in Excel

  1. Open the original file received
  2. Copy the following 6 columns:
    • old_add
    • old_zip
    • new_add
    • new_city
    • new_state
    • new_zip
  3. Paste the 6 columns into a new, clean sheet

Step 3: Rename the Column Headers

Make sure your headers are exactly as follows:

Original ColumnRename to
old_addProperty Address
old_zipProperty Zip
new_addGolden Address
new_cityGolden City
new_stateGolden State
new_zipGolden Zip

Save the file as a .CSV

Step 4: Import the Golden Address File

  1. Log in to your 8020REI domain
  2. Go to Properties → Import Property
  3. Click "Import File" and upload the updated CSV

Step 5: Go to Import History

Check the results of the upload:

  • "Updated" Properties: Records where Property Address and Mailing Address match (automatically updated)
  • "New" Properties: Have different mailing and property addresses and must be updated manually

Step 6: Export Records for Manual Update

  1. In Properties, click "New" → Apply your Golden Address filter
  2. Use the Actions menu and select Export
  3. Choose Export Configuration → "Direct Mail - Fulfillment"
  4. Click "Export"

You will receive an email with the download link. Open the file and identify which properties require manual updates.

✏️ Steps 7-8: Manual Update Process

  1. Match Records: Open the original file and filter to match the properties from the exported file
  2. Copy the old_add value of one of the matching properties
  3. Update in Domain:
    1. In the domain, go to Mailing Address
    2. Paste the copied old_add and search
    3. Click into the correct property
    4. Return to Excel and copy the matching new_add
    5. Click the current property address field
    6. Replace it with the Golden Address
    7. Click Save
  4. Repeat for all matched records
