This article explains how to update the distress level of specific properties within your 8020REI domain. Updating distress indicators helps improve list targeting, lead prioritization, and the accuracy of your marketing strategy.
When to Use This
Use this process when:
You receive a list of properties with updated or corrected distress information
You want to manually override the current distress level for specific properties
You’re refining prospect segmentation based on verified data (e.g., vacant homes, absentee ownership, legal flags)
Required Information
Before preparing your update file, make sure to collect the following fields:
Field | Description |
---|---|
Property Address | Full street address of the property |
Zip Code | Property ZIP code (5 digits) |
Distress Indicator | The new distress level or tag (e.g., Vacant , Absentee , Litigator , etc.) |
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Prepare the CSV File
Open a blank Excel file
Add the following column headers:
Property Address
Zip Code
Distress Indicator
Fill in the rows with the updated information for each property
Save the file in CSV (.csv) format
If you’re unsure how to format the file, download the example template from your domain’s import screen.
2. Import the File into Your Domain
Log in to the client’s domain
Navigate to Properties → Import Property
Click “Import File”
Click “Select File” and upload your distress update CSV
Click “Open” to begin the import
The system will identify each property by Property Address + ZIP Code and apply the new distress indicator.
Verifying the Update
To confirm the distress tags have been applied:
Go to the Properties list view
Click the Filter icon
Apply a filter on:
Distress
→Equal to
→ (your updated distress tag)
Review the filtered results to ensure the update applied correctly
Important Notes
If the address or ZIP code does not match any property in your domain, the update will be skipped
The distress value must be consistent with your internal naming convention (e.g.,
Vacant
,Absentee
,DNC
, etc.)Avoid mixing unrelated updates (e.g., golden addresses, tags) in the same file — keep imports clean and focused
