Key point — 8020REI uses two SMS number groups: Prospecting (rotating numbers for cold outreach) and Follow-Up (consistent number for warm leads). Correct assignment protects deliverability and builds trust with prospects.

Prospecting Group

Used for initial outreach to property owners you are contacting for the first time. Each message rotates between different sender numbers, distributing volume across the pool and protecting number reputation from carrier filtering.

Example: You send an SMS to Jane Smith today from (888) 111-0001, and tomorrow's message goes out from (888) 111-0002.

Follow-Up (FUP) Group

Used for ongoing communication after a lead responds. All subsequent messages to that contact come from the same number, maintaining thread consistency so the prospect recognizes you and conversations feel personal.

Example: Once John responds, all future texts to him come from the same number he replied to.

Configuration

Number groups are selected within each Action Plan step. When configuring an SMS step, go to "Sender Options" and choose Prospecting or Follow-Up based on message intent.

Best Practices

  • Use Prospecting for first-time messages to cold lists
  • Switch to FUP once the seller responds or when nurturing known contacts
  • Avoid switching groups mid-campaign unless part of a structured multi-phase strategy
  • Review sender numbers regularly to confirm they are active and unflagged
