The Primary Number (also called Main Number) is the phone number our system identifies as the most likely to reach the property owner. This article explains how it is selected and when it changes.

How the Primary Number Is Selected

Each property record can carry multiple phone numbers from skip tracing and public data sources. The system evaluates these numbers and assigns one as the Primary Number based on connection quality, recency of verification, and line type. Landlines tied to the property address and recently verified mobile numbers rank highest.

The Primary Number appears as the default in your Property List view and is the number used for outbound SMS campaigns and cold calling sequences. If a number is disconnected or flagged as DNC, the system automatically promotes the next-best number to primary status during your next data refresh.

When the Primary Number Changes

Primary Numbers update during two events: monthly data refreshes and skip trace imports. When new skip trace data arrives, the system re-evaluates all available numbers and may reassign the primary if a higher-quality number is found. You will not lose the previous number — it moves to the secondary or tertiary slot and remains accessible in the full property record.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I manually set the Primary Number?

No. The system selects the Primary Number automatically based on data quality signals. If you believe a different number should be primary, submit it through a skip trace import and the system will re-evaluate.

What does it mean if there is no Primary Number?

A blank Primary Number means no verified phone number exists for that property owner. Running a skip trace on the record is the fastest way to populate it.
